Episode 2: Antimicrobial Resistance is a Public Health Concern

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has been an ongoing topic in public health circles for years. Superbugs like methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, are often discussed in the context of healthcare settings or outbreaks in first-world countries like the U.S.

But a new article in The Lancet has found that the extent of AMR, especially in low and middle-income countries, may be higher than we thought. This episode was hosted by Diane Bao.

The Lancet article, titled Global burden of bacterial antimicrobial resistance in 2019: a systematic analysis: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(21)02724-0/fulltext#%20. The DOI link to this article is https://doi.org/10.1016/S0140-6736(21)02724-0.
